Biography

I am Ayomi Karunanayake, a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) and the Assistant Director of an esteemed early learning centre. With over eight years of invaluable experience in early childhood education, I am committed to fostering the growth and development of young minds. Currently, I am pursuing a Bachelor of Education with a specialisation in Early Childhood Teaching at Swinburne online to further enhance my skills and knowledge in this field.

Originally from Sri Lanka, I graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Textile Technology) in 2014 from RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. My early career was spent as an auditor and certifier in the textile department for a certification company that certifies organic products. This role not only honed my attention to detail and commitment to quality but also instilled in me a strong ethical foundation, which I bring into my teaching practice.

My transition into early childhood education was fuelled by a profound passion for teaching and a desire to make a positive impact on the lives of young children. Since moving to Australia, I have dedicated myself to the field of early childhood education, working diligently to create engaging and supportive learning environments. As I work towards my Bachelor of Education, I am determined to become a qualified ECT, utilising innovative approaches to support the holistic development of children.

I firmly believe that the knowledge of  media content creation can be used in contemporary classrooms to enhance children’s  learning experience, by making it more engaging, interactive, and enjoyable for children. This belief drives my continuous efforts to integrate technology and creative teaching methods into my practice, ensuring that each child’s learning journey is both enriching and fun.

In addition to my professional pursuits, I have a deep appreciation for the arts. I enjoy watercolour painting and reading novels, both of which provide a creative outlet and inspire my innovative approach to teaching. These hobbies not only enrich my personal life but also enhance my ability to bring creativity and imagination into the classroom.

My multifaceted background, combined with my unwavering dedication to continuous learning and professional growth, positions me as a distinguished professional in the field of early childhood education. I am committed to making a lasting difference in the lives of young children, guiding them towards a bright and promising future.
